Hilary Hinton "Zig" Ziglar #1

Zig Ziglar died yesterday, November 28th. He was 86 and a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church where he conducted Bible Classes. From his quotes, we can find some real wisdom.

"If you can dream it, then you can achieve it. You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want."

Dark comes before light

"There is no sunrise without sunset. There is no life without death. There is no success without failure." T. T. Rangarajan, guru

Genesis 1:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 The earth it came to pass that it became without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

Kindness

"Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.".........Mother Teresa

Serious Question

Can anyone tell me why, as nominal Christians purporting believing every word of the Bible, do we continue to fight a war against Satan and the world that was won nearly 2000 years ago?

God's Cake

Sometimes we wonder,:
'What did I do to deserve this?' or
'Why did God have to do this to me?'
Here is a wonderful explanation!

A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.'

'Here, have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers. 'Yuck' says her daughter.

'How about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!'

'Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?'
'Mom, those are all yucky!'

To which the mother replies :
'Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves.  But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! '

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

A conversation with God

I have seen this several time in the past, but it came to me again this past week at a very goood time - and it helped once again. I hope it helps you, too. I have printed it and placed it by my chair so I can read it more often.

Me: God, can I ask you a question?
God: Sure.

Me: Promise you won't get mad.
God: I promise.

Me: Why did you let so much stuff happen to me today?
God: What do you mean?

Me: Well, I woke up late.
God: Yes.

Me: My car took forever to start.
God: Okay.

Me: At lunch they made my sandwich wrong and I had to wait.
God: Huummm.

Me: On the way home, my phone went dead, just as I picked up a call.
God: All right.

Me: And on top of it all, when I got home I just wanted to soak my feet in my new foot massager and relax, but it wouldn't work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did you do that?
God: Let me see, the Death Angel was at your bed this morning and I had to send one of the other angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that.

Me: (humbled): OH...
GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.

Me: (ashamed)
God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick and I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work.

Me: (embarrassed): Ok...
God: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered.

Me: (softly) I see God.
God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: I'm sorry God.
God: Don't be sorry, just learn to trust me.....in all things, the good and the bad.

Me: I will trust you.
God: And don't doubt that my plan for your day is always better than your plan.

Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, thank you for everything today.
God: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God, and I love looking after my children.

Ten Commandments - Simplified

Some people have trouble with all those 'shall's' and 'shall not's' in the Ten Commandments. In Southeastern Missouri they translated the 'King James' into 'Butler County' language. (1) Just one God (2) Put nothin' before God (3) Watch yer mouth (4) Git yourself to Sabbath meetin' (5) Honor yer Ma & Pa (6) No killin' (7) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal. (8) Don't take what ain't yers (9) No tellin' tales or gossipin' (10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff That's it, plain an' simple.

Sad, but true

Isn't it sad how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping? Isn't it sad how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie? Isn't it sad that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but.. you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend? Isn't it sad how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book? Isn't it sad how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church? Isn't it sad how e need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events at the last minute? Isn't it sad how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others; but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip? Isn't it sad how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but..... we question the words in the Bible? Isn't it sad how everyone wants a place in heaven but.....they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there? Isn't it sad how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others?

The power of words

From Robert Love in the January 27, 2012 issue of The Week:

"...as Mark Twain said, 'The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.'"

Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him

James 3:
3 Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.
4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.
5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Choose your words wisely and use them in the correct manner.
