The wisdom of Larry the cable guy ... 17-24

17. How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?
18. Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
19. What happens if you get scared half to death, twice?
20. Why do psychics have to ask you your name?
21. Inside every older person is a younger person wondering 'What the heck happened?'
22. Just remember -- if the world didn't suck, we would all fall off.
23. Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
24. Life isn't like a box of chocolates. It's more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today might burn your butt tomorrow.

Comforting thoughts

'To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.' The antithesis is 'If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got'

When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.

Concentrate on this sentence... 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'

Something good will happen to you today; something that you have been waiting to hear.

When Your Hut's On Fire

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.

Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, 'God! How could you do this to me?'

Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! 'How did you know I was here?' asked the weary man of his rescuers. 'We saw your smoke signal,' they replied.

The Moral of This Story: It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering

Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

A thought to consider

Since I have not received any comments about this post, I thought I would add my own.

Remember, the unpardonable sin is one blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Satan has definitely done that, so it is VERY unlikely that he could be forgiven. Just as it is unlikely that he would ever repent anyway.

-----------------------------------------------------

I am reading The Early Church and reading about the philosophies of Origen (184-254). One of his positions:

"... even Satan himself retains some vestige of power to acknowledge the truth; even he can repent at the very last."

I have never considered that possibilty and find it very interesting. What IF, Satan repented. I think it is very unlikely, but I can see that it might be possible.

Think about it. God changed His prophesy about Nineveh. Satan's repentence could change His prophecy of the end times.

We can only pray and live our lives so others can see His teachings in our lives.

Don't Panic

Something may happen today that shocks you. Don't worry about it. God anticipated it. Remember, Satan is merely an ex-employee of Heaven. God knows him quite well. He fired him. Get alone today in the presence of God. Fear will die and courage will flourish.
